Mr M started a new job today. That is a very big statement for me because he has spent the last few years working for the Royal Bank of Scotland. *stressed face*
I simply will not say what I feel about the RBS after seeing my husband try to do the best damn job possible for the last few years.
I wanted him to resign a long time ago. He carried on because he's dedicated to his job, his clients, his colleagues, and because he thought he could make it better. I am still angry about what happened.
Anyway, today he begins a new job, starting a new business but within an existing company, and a very good one it is, too. I expect him to be tired but empowered, emboldened but not embattled. And the new company is not a bank.
Something to crack open some sparkly stuff, methinks.
Cheers, Mr M, and massive good luck!
PS You are all invited to the Great Big Purple Blog-Warming Party on Friday evening. Do add yourself to the permanent guest list on the right - all welcome! And as part of that party I have chocolate to be won AND a lovely chance for you to do something I know you'd love to do...
Good luck to Mr M - will raise a glass of the bubbly stuff to him. How exciting to be starting something totally new but within a larger organisation. I can only imagine how debilitating the last few years have been working for RBS. Here's to a very happy future.
ReplyDeleteLove the new look at the top....more shoes
Debilitating is one word. From where I stand, it looks awful.
Deleteyes, more shoes :)
Good luck to Mr M in his new venture - may his hard work reap rewards instead of brickbats this time.(Why is it invariably the professionals who actually care who are left to carry the flak - AGH!)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the new blog - that's a verry calminnnnnnnnng shaaaaaaaaaade offffffffffffff puuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......
I'm glad you find it calming!
DeleteTell Mr M from me that getting out of financial services is akin to starting a whole new life. A much better one at that.
ReplyDeleteHe's still in financial services... :( But not all bits of it are awful. :) And overall, as you know, it's very important.
DeleteSorry, *removes serious face*
Good Luck Mr M - congratulations to you both!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteYes, absolutely good luck Mr M... and sparkly stuff? well any occasion is the right occasion for a bit of sparkle. And by the way, am loving those Spring shoes!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a chance to wear them yet!
DeleteOoh shoes...I just knew there would be shoes! And sparkly bits! Purr-fect!
ReplyDeleteMr M is a very brave man. I wish him well. (No wonder your muse has returned!)
PS you need to show everyone your flowery shoes too - purrlease!
All good wishes to Mr M as well as to you, your shed and your Big Purple Blog!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you both! A few years ago we downsized our careers, and Mr left his high stress, high waged corporate IT job, and went to work for a small family firm and people he cared about. I gave up being a psychologist, so am not locked in small rooms with unhappy people all day. We love it, and now he works less hours, is away much less, and we spend more time doing things we enjoy. We spend a lot less time pressing our impovershed noses against shiny shop windows, so we don't know what we are missing. It's a great life. Not to mention, having more time means I have more opportunity to improve my writing, which is starting to pay off! (How to Write a Great Synopsis helped enormously!) I shall be back on Friday, someone said chocolate...
ReplyDeleteRebecca - great story! And yes, someone did say chocolate...
ReplyDeletePenny, my shed is coming sooner than i expected - next week!
Cat - I need spring weather to wear the spring shoes :(
